Mughal embroidery
Fragmented Summer Carpet or floor spread, 19th century. Originally would have been frontispiece for a quilt with backing. Silk and gold spun thread on hand spun cotton. Probably made by Chinese immigrants to India, Deccan plateau, or Goa for the Parsee community. Such floor coverings were used in summer houses.

Age: 19th century or earlier
Condition: In need of restoration, fragmented and fragile only approximately 70 percent of original frontispiece remaining.
Size: Approximately 6ft x 4ft
